DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Revoir les données d'efficacité et d'innocuité du métoclopramide pour le traitement de la gastroparésie diabétique.

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Recherche informatisée sur les banques de données médicales MEDLINE et PubMed ayant utilisé les mots-clés suivants: métoclopramide, gastroparésie diabétique et dyskinésie d'origine médicamenteuse.

RÉSUMÉ DES DONNÉES: Le métoclopramide est souvent utilisé pour le traitement de la gastroparésie diabétique malgré le risque de développer une dyskinésie médicamenteuse. Les données publiées quant à l'efficacité et l'innocuité du métoclopramide dans un tel contexte sont limitées.

CONCLUSIONS: L'absence de données rigoureuses ne permet pas d'établir une conclusion définitive sur l'efficacité du métoclopramide dans le traitement de la gastroparésie diabétique. Le risque associé à une telle utilisation chronique peut être atténué par un monitoring régulier de la thérapie.
