DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Réviser la documentation scientifique évaluant l'efficacité de la venlafaxine dans le traitement des bouffées de chaleur.

MÉTHODOLOGIE: Recherche informatisée dans les banques de données MEDLINE (1966 à présent), PubMed et Harrison en ligne. Mots clés utilisés: venlafaxine, Effexor, bouffées de chaleur, et symptômes vasomoteurs.

RÉSULTATS: Les patientes souffrant de bouffées de chaleur ne sont pas toutes de bonnes candidates pour la thérapie hormonale traditionnelle. Plusieurs alternatives non traditionnelles ont été étudiées mais des résultats contradictoires existent quant à leur efficacité. Cet article de revue fait le point sur l'utilité de la venlafaxine dans le traitement des bouffées de chaleur.

CONCLUSIONS: La venlafaxine semble être une alternative non hormonale efficace pour le soulagement des bouffées de chaleur non contrôlées.
