DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Évaluer la documentation scientifique décrivant l'utilisation de l'ivermectin dans les cas d'infestations à la gale résistantes au traitement.

SOURCES DE DONNÉES: Documentation scientifique clinique accédée à l'aide d'une recherche MEDLINE (1966 à 2001) et de la base de données Cochrane.

SYNTHÈSE DES DONNÉES: Un nombre limité de rapports et série de cas ont décrit des interventions efficaces avec l'utilisation de l'ivermectin chez des patients n'ayant pas répondu à d'autres traitements. L'ivermectin pourrait servir comme alternative acceptable avec l'augmentation des infestations à la gale résistantes.

CONCLUSIONS: L'ivermectin semble être une alternative efficace et sécuritaire pour les patients atteints d'une infection à la gale résistante au traitement. Des études cliniques contrôlées de plus grande envergure sont requises avant que cette thérapie puisse être recommandée dans la population ou comme thérapie de première ligne.
