DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Évaluer l'effet des inhibiteurs sélectifs de la cyclooxygénase-2 (ICOX-2) sur la tension artérielle (TA).

SOURCE DE L'INFORMATION: Toutes les publications retrouvées lors d'une recherche sur MEDLINE avec les mots-clés suivants: inhibiteurs sélectifs COX-2, agents anti-inflammatoires, non-stéroidiens, celecoxib, rofecoxib, et hypertension.

SYNTHÈSE DE L'INFORMATION: Les données sur les effets des ICOX-2 sur la TA dans les études prospectives sont conflictuelles. Plusieurs études ont rapporté que l'augmentation de la TA était un effet indésirable des ICOX-2.

CONCLUSION: Des études supplémentaires sont requises pour évaluer adéquatement l'effet des ICOX-2 sur la TA. En attendant, les ICOX-2 devraient être utilisés avec précaution chez les patients hypertendus et la TA devrait être suivie étroitement si ces médicaments étaient utilisés.
