OBJECTIF: Evaluer l'efficacité de la fluoxétine dans le traitement de la névrose anorexique.

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Littérature repérée par une recherche sur MEDLINE (1966 à janvier 2003).

RÉSUMÉ: Les études à propos de l'efficacité de la fluoxétine dans le traitement de la névrose anorexique donnent des résultats contradictoires.

CONCLUSIONS: La fluoxétine joue un rôle dans l'amélioration des symptômes dépressifs et des troubles obsessionnels–compulsifs chez des patients anorexiques. Bien que la psychothérapie, l'éducation nutritionnelle, et la thérapie comportementale restent les bases du traitement, la fluoxétine devrait être considérée comme une possibilité pour prévenir les rechutes ou pour traiter les symptômes associés à la névrose anorexique, après une restauration pondérale satisfaisante, en tant que composante d'un traitement d'entretien et pas en tant que traitement primaire. Malgré des résultats préliminaires prometteurs, d'autres études comportant des effectifs plus importants et de dessin plus rigoureux sont nécessaires.
