DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Evaluer l'emploi de faibles doses de granisétron en traitement prophylactique des nausées et vomissements postopératoires.

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Essais cliniques repérés sur PubMed et OVID (1966 à juillet 2003); information fournie par le fabricant.

RÉSUMÉ: Les effets indésirables du dropéridol et la limitation de la disponibilité d'autres agents ont rendu nécessaire une reconstruction des recommandations pour la prophylaxie des nausées et vomissements postopératoires. Il a récemment été avancé que le granisétron pourrait être efficace à une dose égale au dixième de la dose approuvée par la FDA. Les éléments contradictoires disponibles sont évalués ici.

CONCLUSIONS: Etant donné la pauvreté des données, ce schéma n'est pas recommandé pour la prophylaxie des nausées et vomissements postopératoires chez les patients à risque.
