DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Réviser la littérature décrivant l'emploi d'inhibiteurs sélectifs de la recapture de la sérotonine (IRS) dans la prise en charge des troubles fonctionnels associés aux désordres autistiques.

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Littérature repérée sur Embase, IPA, et MEDLINE.

RÉSUMÉ: La littérature a été examinée afin d'identifier les résultats thérapeutiques de l'emploi des IRS dans la prise en charge symptomatique des troubles de l'autisme. Un seul essai clinique à allocation aléatoire et en double insu a été identifié, ainsi que 6 essais prospectifs ouverts.

CONCLUSIONS: Il a été observé des améliorations des troubles lors du traitement par IRS. L'obtention d'une réponse au traitement ou l'apparition d'effets indésirables n'a pas été reliée à un schéma thérapeutique précis (IRS, posologie) ni à des facteurs cliniques ou démographiques (symptomatologie, sexe, et âge des patients). Il n'y a pas d'éléments objectifs de preuve permettant d'envisager le choix d'un IRS plutôt que d'un autre pour les différents troubles de l'autisme.
