DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Réviser les effets du traitement hypolipémiant sur les lipoprotéines de basse densité petites et denses (LDL-PD).

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Littérature repérée par une recherche sur MEDLINE (1989 à septembre 2004) et la bibliographie des articles sélectionnés; mots-clés: lipoprotéines de basse densité petites et denses, traitement hypolipémiant.

RÉSUMÉ: Les statines, les fibrates, et l'acide nicotinique ont montré des effets favorables sur les LDL-PD, en particulier chez les patients avec des dyslipidémies mixtes ou des hypertriglycéridémies. Ces effets comportent une réduction des LDL-PD et/ou un transfert vers des LDL plus grosses, moins athérogènes.

CONCLUSIONS: Les données suggèrent que les statines, les fibrates, et l'acide nicotinique sont efficaces pour réduire les concentrations de LDL-PD et peut-être pour normaliser les sous-classes de LDL.
