DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJECTIF: Evaluer l'efficacité et la sécurité des nébulisations de morphine dans la prise en charge de la dyspnée des maladies pulmonaires chroniques.

REVUE DE LITTÉRATURE: Littérature repérée sur MEDLINE (1966 à mai 2004), EMBASE (1980 à mai 2004), et IPA (1970 à mai 2004). Motsclés: morphine, dyspnée, et inhalation.

RÉSUMÉ: Des aérosols de morphine ont été employés dans la prise en charge de la dyspnée. Neuf essais cliniques de faibles effectifs et 7 cas anecdotiques relatifs à l'emploi de nébulisations de morphine chez des patients atteints de troubles pulmonaires chroniques ont été examinés.

CONCLUSIONS: Les résultats de plusieurs études n'encouragent pas l'emploi de morphine inhalée pour le traitement de la dyspnée. Cependant, quelques cas anecdotiques favorables ont été publiés.
