Argumentation: Diabète Sucré et Antipsychotiques de Deuxième Génération

Les antipsychotiques-atypiques-de deuxième génération peuvent provoquer des effets indésirables sur le métabolisme. Cependant, de tous ces effets, c'est leur capacité à induire un dérèglement du glucose qui a généré le plus de controverse au cours des dernières années. Bien qu'il existe plusieurs études épidémiologiques, celles-ci sont difficiles à interpréter et ce, principalement à cause de l'incidence élevée de diabète type II dans cette population, des problèmes inhérents à l'analyse de données d'observation et de la courte durée de suivi des études disponibles. Il est donc important de surveiller le gain pondéral, l'hypertriglycéridémie, le dérèglement du glucose, et potentiellement les autres effets secondaires sur le métabolisme lorsque ces produits sont administrés.
