DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJETIVO: Examinar el uso del agente anticonvulsivo, gabapentin, para el tratamiento de varios tipos de temblores.

FUENTES DE INFORMACIÓN: Se realizó una búsqueda utilizando MEDLINE y EMBASE (1993–mayo 2002) para identificar todos los estudios clínicos guardando relación con el uso de gabapentin para el tratamiento de temblores en seres humanos.

SÍNTESIS: Los resultados de los estudios demuestran una gran variabilidad. Los números de pacientes en los estudios son pequeños, y los resultados se han basado en gran parte en evaluaciones sujetivos por parte de los sujetos y de los investigadores.

CONCLUSIONES: Una prueba con gabapentin es justificada en pacientes quienes no han respondido a tratamiento con agentes tradicionales. Se debe medir mejoramiento por la abilidad funcional del paciente.
