DRUG INFORMATION ROUNDS

OBJETIVO: Evaluar el efecto de los inhibidores selectivo de cyclooxygenase-2 (ISC) en la presión sanguínea.

EXTRACCIÓN DE DATOS: Se accesó literatura clínica usando las palabras claves: inhibidores selectivo COX-2, agente anti-inflamatorio no esteroidal, celecoxib, estudios prospectivos rofecoxib, e hipertensión.

SÍNTESIS DE DATOS: Los datos de estudios prospectivos sobre los efectos de ISC en la presión sanguínea son conflictivos. Algunos estudios han reportado un aumento en presión sanguínea como efecto adverso de los ISC.

CONCLUSIONES: Estudios adicionales que evaluen los efectos de los ISC en la presión sanguínea son necesarios. Estos medicamentos deberían ser usados con precaución en pacientes hipertensos y si fuera necesario utilizarlo; se debe proveer un seguimiento contínuo de la presión sanguínea.
