La Importación de Medicamentos y la Seguridad de los Medicamentos Provenientes de Canadá

La importación de medicamentos de Canadá ha sido debatido arduamente por cerca de una década. Muchos piensan que la importación de medicamentos traerá una competencia que es necesaria en los Estados Unidos lo cuál redundará en precios más bajos. Los opositores a esta práctica argumentan que los costos asociados con asegurar la calidad y seguridad de los productos así como los costos de servicios de salud adicionales contrarrestarán cualquier ahorro que se logre mediante la importación de los medicamentos. En este artículo se discuten las diferencias e implicaciones de la importación personal y comercial así como los precios de los medicamentos genéricos en los Estados Unidos. Se presentan los problemas que han ocurrido en el pasado con las farmacias canadienses en Internet, incluyendo la amenaza de copias de productos. Finalmente, si el problema son los precios de los medicamentos en los Estados Unidos, necesitamos buscar soluciones internas y no convertirnos en una carga o problema para otros países.
