Las Políticas de Reembolso en Canadá-Necesidad de Mejorar el Acceso a Terapias de Carácter Crítico

Los programas públicos de medicamentos en Canadá están implementando de manera incremental estrategias de manejo de costos. Una revisión multidisciplinaria de estas estrategias, específicamente el proceso de autorización especial (SA), encontró que la implementación de SA en la práctica es costosa y causa inequidad en el acceso, sub-utilización y retrasos en el tratamiento de terapias urgentes, lo que potencialmente lleva a resultados negativos en la salud de los pacientes. Presentamos posibles soluciones y recomendaciones para que los que toman decisiones de reembolso tomen en consideración la mejor evidencia clínica, eliminen la variabilidad regional en acceso, aseguren el acceso a tiempo a tratamientos de urgencia y le den seguimiento al impacto de las políticas de reembolso en los resultados en la salud de los pacientes.
