La Seguridad de la Vacuna contra el Virus de Papiloma Humano en Pacientes Pediátricos. Evaluación del Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System

Reportes recientes en los medios noticiosos han vinculado la vacuna contra el Virus de Papiloma Humano (HPV) con eventos adversos en niños y adolescentes. La base de datos del sistema de reporte de eventos adversos a vacunas (VAERS), fue utilizado para extraer eventos adversos post-mercadeo en pacientes que recibieron la vacuna de HPV. En los Estados Unidos de América se han reportado al VAERS 3174 eventos adversos que ocurrieron en niños y adolescentes entre las edades de 6–17 años desde que la vacuna se aprobó. De estos eventos adversos reportados, 191 (6%) se consideran serios. Aunque los eventos adversos reportados se consideran serios, es necesario llevar a cabo más estudios para poder correlacionar estos con la vacuna.
